West Midlands based writer Michelle graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2023 with an MA Creative Writing with Distinction. In 2024 she was awarded an ESRC DTP studentship to undertake a research degree. For this PhD, Michelle is exploring the impact on families whose children have come into conflict with the law, and how this can be interrogated and represented through creative writing. Her wider research interest is in how drama influences public perceptions of offenders and punishment.

Michelle has a passion for using creative writing to help people explore their stories and agency. She is currently working on a storytelling project with a third sector organisation, funded by The Space (Digital Arts). She is also a Creative Writing Facilitator for Overhear supporting their oral histories project at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.
Writing workshops are available (online and in person):
- An Introduction to Creative Writing (GCSE students). This is delivered as an after-school club, once per week for half a term, to support with the creative writing element of the AQA paper.
- An Introduction to Creative Writing (adults). Learn the fundamentals to start crafting your own stories.
- Writing for Wellbeing. A workshop to support people in developing a mindfulness practise through writing.
- A Way With Words. A workshop to support people to work through personal challenges or crossroads, through writing.
- Community Workshops. Specifically for the third sector and bespoke to the organisation’s needs.
- Author visits. Available to schools, colleges and book-stores. Visits can be tailored but generally include a workshop, Q&A and optional book signing.
Michelle is the author of Pay Day and Other Teabreak Tales a collection of bite-sized stories, written for the time-poor reader.
